A Weight Loss Diet that Works
The popular adage that "moderation is the key" is a tried and tested method in any aspect of life. But this is especially true when it comes to weight loss. No matter how effective a diet may sound, if you don't practice eating in moderate amounts, you will just end up gaining all the weight back. Do not try starving yourself too. Don't buy into those 800 calorie diets -not only are they dangerous to your health but they can wreak havoc on your skin, hair and nails. You wouldn't want that right? So when you're still starting, take baby steps first.
Set a realistic goal and always keep your promises no matter what. If you fail to do your thirty minute gym routine due to an emergency office meeting or the like, then just make up for it by exercising while watching TV. And please do not tell yourself that you will slave away for two hours in your next gym visit because not only is that unnecessary but unrealistic as well. Also, do not instantly change your diet; that will just make you more prone to bingeing and gaining more weight in the long run.
If you are the kind of person who likes sticking to a specific diet instead of just eating in small amounts then you may want to try counting calories. Just don't overdo this or you'll end up annoying yourself and your roommate. Try keeping a food diary so that you'll be able to keep track of everything you eat -and hopefully make better decisions in the future.
If calorie counting is not your thing, then why not try the Atkins diet? It has stood the test of time and many people lost weight and kept their ideal weight for good. This diet is not very restrictive and it lets you sample different kinds of food so that you won't feel like you're missing on food too much.
The simple act of exercising for a few minutes a day could've saved countless lives -2 million lives if you are keeping count. Many experts say that a minimum of 30 minutes a day dedicated to exercise can help decrease chances of developing heart disease and other kinds of illnesses.
When you exercise, don't forget to warm up before and cool down after. This will help prevent your body from being shocked and any injuries from happening. Also, try different activities in order to prevent yourself from getting bored. Swim, surf or walk -whatever suits you.
Exercising will increase your metabolic rate and help you burn more calories. Not only that but you will strengthen your immune system and build muscle too. So aim for a toned and healthy body when dieting and exercising. Don't buy into that whole skinny waif trend. Those people who choose to starve themselves silly will pay for it in the long run. Also, if you diet and exercise properly, you will gain healthy curves that will make you look all womanly instead of a skinny ten year old kid.
